Evolving VoLTE & Interconnect Networks for EVS and Transcoding with NFV

Wednesday, November 9, 2016
2:00pm ET/ 11:00am PT

VoLTE and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) are both gaining traction with many global launches and many more forecasted in the coming years. At the same time, mobile and interconnect service providers are also busy enhancing their networks and software defined infrastructures for enhanced consumer services and for better user experiences. One of those key enhancements to the core and edge of the networks is the enablement of full high definition voice communications services with support for the Enhanced Voice Services (EVS) codec.

Introduction of full HD voice with the EVS codec requires updates in the core and the edge of the service provider and interconnect networks to address audio transcoding between EVS and other codecs. NFV-based approaches offer the ability to do this transcoding in a distributed and secure manner, at efficient scale and with elasticity from the telco cloud. At the same time, NFV-based transcoding solutions with virtual network functions like session border controllers (SBCs) at the edge of the networks mitigate challenges such as security threats, signaling and media interoperability, and support new VoLTE roaming architectures.

Join us in this informative webinar to learn more about the best practices to address EVS transcoding in the core and edge of your networks at scale using NFV-based approaches to provide a significantly enhanced user experience for your subscribers.

What Attendees will learn:

  • Challenges and opportunities in introducing enhanced voice services transcoding
