Qualcomm Tops ABI's Commercial Telematics In-Cab Hardware Vendor Matrix Ranking
Vendor Matrix provides a clear understanding of vendors’ positions in specific markets. And assess vendors based on the important parameters of “innovation” and “implementation” across several criteria unique to each vendor matrix.
The second and third position for the company’s most recent evaluation of worldwide Commercial Telematics In-Cab Hardware vendors were claimed by Xata and Webtech Wireless.
According to Dominique Bonte, Telematics practice director, ABI Research, Qualcomm (News - Alert) Enterprise Solutions maintained its top ranking mainly due to their high market share, organizational health, regional coverage, quality and reliability, advanced commercial navigation functionality and its innovative MCP100/200 Mobile Computing Platform.
Qualcomm Enterprise Solutions, according to Bonte, address the emerging demand for revenue-generating driver empowerment and productivity.
For the analysis under the category, “innovation,” ABI Research (News - Alert) examined user interface, overall number of relevant features and functionality, navigation, vehicle monitoring and sensors, and convergence and standardization – offerings based on or interfacing with converged devices such as smartphones, connected PNDs, netbooks and other devices.
Under "implementation," ABI Research evaluated pricing, market share, vertical segments, hardware configurations, organizational health, and quality & reliability.
In June, Qualcomm announced that five companies started developing products that are based on Qualcomm’s expanded portfolio of 3G/4G solutions with a common Gobi application programming interface, TMCnet reported. These new connectivity solutions will be able to offer mobile connectivity to new categories of devices.
