First Annual Middleberg/SNCR Global Survey of Media in Wired World

Middleberg Communications recently announced its collaboration with the Society for New Communications Research (News - Alert) (SNCR) to conduct the First Annual Middleberg/SNCR Global Survey of Media in the Wired World.

"I am delighted that our journalist survey work will continue. For those of us in public relations it is vital that we understand the new media channels journalists are using if we are to be effective communicators," stated public relations veteran Don Middleberg. "Ever since I re-entered public relations two years ago after the sale of my first agency, resurrecting this study has been a major goal. One of the primary objectives of this survey is to help inform public relations professionals as to how they can communicate more efficiently and effectively with journalists, and provide more value to the journalistic community. The Society for New Communications Research is the perfect partner for this work and I look forward to an exciting first study."
The survey is very similar to the Middleberg-Ross Survey, a highly-reputed survey which was earlier conducted by Middleberg along with Steven Ross. Middleberg, with his expertise in public relations, conducted this survey with Ross, who was formerly an associate professor of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

The Middleberg-Ross Survey proved to be an indispensable source of information for people in the public relations profession with details about the extent to which journalists used the internet. Right from their search patterns to email practices to their view on the authenticity of information obtained via the net; the study covered every aspect in detail.

The latest First Annual Middleberg/SNCR Global Survey of Media in the Wired World will include an upgraded and expanded online survey along with case studies extracted from interviews with journalists worldwide. The research team for this survey will study the influence of new media and communications developments, social media, and citizen journalism on journalists and the journalism profession.

"We are honored to be a part of the re-launch of this important survey, which has a long history of providing valuable insight and information to the PR profession," commented Jen McClure, executive director, Society for New Communications Research. "This study is needed today more than ever, due to the significant changes and developments that are affecting traditional media organizations, journalists, professional communications and the public relations industry," McClure added.
