Research and Markets: Ukraine to Hit 62.4 Million Mobile Subscribers by 2010

Research and Markets has announced that it is offering a new report by IE Market Research Corporation named, "3Q08 Ukraine Mobile Forecast, 2008 – 2010.”
In this report, more than 65 operational and financial metrics have been included for forecasts and projections made regarding the Ukraine wireless market. A number of major operators from Ukraine such as UMC, Kyivstar, Astelit, Golden and URS (VimpelCom) have been analyzed in the report.
According to the report, the total subscriber base in Ukraine is projected to be 59.1 million by the end of 2008, and it will reach the forecasted 62.4 million by 2010.
The report expects to see a large increase in the wireless penetration rate in Ukraine after integrating the forecasted total subscriber base with population growth rates of the country, which is projected to be 129.2 percent in the year 2008 and is forecasted to reach 138.3 percent in 2010.
When measured by Average Revenue per User (ARPU), the consumers in Ukraine will be paying the lowest prices in the European continent for their mobile services at an ARPU of $7.63 per month in the year 2010, states the report. Further, Astelit, the third largest operator in Ukraine based on its subscriber base, will be providing its services at an ARPU of $4.09 per month, says the report.
The research report expects that for a number of years in the future, market shares of the four big wireless operators in Ukraine will stay at the present levels, and according to its forecasts, Kyivstar, UMC, Astelit, URS (VimpelCom) will be having 40.8 percent, 34.2 percent, 18.3 percent, 5.7 percent of total subscribers respectively in the year 2010.
The largest wireless operator in Ukraine, Kyivstar, will be leading its opponents in the Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization (EBITDA) margin with an EBITDA margin of more than 56 percent in 2010, the report forecasts. In addition, it says that Astelit, a company that has been facing negative EBITDA margins before 2008, will begin to break even having an EBITDA margin of 22.9 percent in 2010.
