A TechSci Research survey in which 478 CIOs and IT Managers of both large and SMB enterprises across `were polled has revealed that 55 percent of SaaS (News - Alert) adopters currently deploy security and compliance applications. Data security concerns displayed and voiced by a number of Chinese enterprises has expanded the marked for security applications. The survey, however, revealed that demand for CRM applications, Web Conferencing, Messaging and collaboration applications will see a far greater expansion within the coming 12 months.

The Chinese market, which is represented by a large number of SMBs, is displaying potential as an SaaS market for a number of business applications, including HR, accounting and security applications as well as applications for manufacturing. SaaS is expected to contribute extensively to the ICT industry in China in the coming five years.

The last few years have seen an expansion of the SaaS market in China. Amid the global economic slowdown advantages of the model with respect to reduced upfront costs, simplified management and reduction in TCO have become apparent. SaaS solutions offer users cost-effective automation of processes and optimized operations and also help organizations enhance collaborations internally as well externally with their partners and suppliers.

The demand for SaaS solutions within the Chinese market is expected to further expand within the coming two or three years. The growth rate is also expected to move past legacy IT solutions as well as the on-premise software market. As per the “China Enterprise SaaS Market Survey Analysis, 2012” report for the year 2012, Chinese SaaS markets are showing expansion rates of 49 percent CAGR through 2016.
