In-Stat Predicts Growth for Mobile Video Calling Market

Several attempts to develop and commercialize video telephony have been unsuccessful in the past. There I, however, a renewed interest in making real-time video calls on mobile phones. The main factor for this renewed interest is the launch of mobile devices featuring front-facing cameras and pre-loaded mobile calling applications.

A comprehensive review of the mobile video calling market can be found in the research from In-Stat. The report has been titled ‘Mobile Video Calling: Market Analysis and Technology Adoption Estimates.’ According to the research, mobile video calling revenue is expected to exceed $1 billion by 2015.

Apple's launch of the iPhone 4 and Facetime marks the point at which the competition for mobile video calling dominance began in earnest. Apple's (News - Alert) capability to revolutionize the mobile video calling market is very real and no one in the ecosystem wants to be left behind."

In-Stat found through its research an expected growth of 115 percent CAGR through 2015 for the number of mobile video calling users. By 2015, 53 percent of the mobile video calling minutes will be used by the Asia/Pacific region. The notable mobile video calling participants will include Apple, Fring, OoVoo, Qik and Skype (News - Alert). Through its research, In-Stat also expects that more than nine exabytes in data traffic will be generated in North America by 2015 because of mobile video calling.

The report provides in depth analysis of market drivers and growth barriers. The report provides estimates on user adoption across four geographic regions. The market segments which might be the early adopters of mobile video calling have also been analyzed in the report. The report also highlights the market players and vendors who are expected to enter the mobile video calling market. In-Stat has specifically covered ooVoo (News - Alert), Apple, Fring, Skype, and Qik in the report.
