Ricardo (Rick) Gramatges is currently responsible for the review and management of the customer’s technical roadmaps for Lucent Technologies in The Americas with special attention to Latin America.  This includes providing pre- and post-sales support and coordinating bids and offers responses with the product units and obtaining technical details required by in-field personnel.  He is based out of the Latin America Headquarters located in South Florida.

Prior to this position, Rick served as development director of Access International Development for Lucent’s Bell Laboratories- the research and development arm of the corporation. From Madrid, Spain, he directed a team of over 100 software and hardware engineers in three key product development areas: access network management software, access network element development, and transport network element development.  He was responsible for all steps of development including project planning, working through system architecture and requirements, software and hardware design, development, integration, certification, product introduction and maintenance.

Rick first joined the corporation in 1989 as part of the technical staff for Bell Laboratories- first for AT&T and later for the spin-off of Lucent Technologies.  He has developed Software and Hardware for Switching Systems, Wireless, and Access products. Rick briefly left the company to become a manager for Fujitsu Network Systems, Inc. where he managed software developers, integrators and testers.  Upon his return to Lucent Technologies, he took on the assignment in Spain.

Rick completed his master’s of science degree in computer science from the Illinois Institute of Technology.  His undergraduate studies in electrical engineering took place in Florida International University and Miami-Dade Community College, both located in South Florida.  He is a fluent English and Spanish speaker who grew up in Miami, Florida.
