As vice president and general manager of the enterprise voice solutions division, David Hattey oversees a business team defining, marketing, and implementing 3Com’s voice products to enterprises of all sizes.

Hattey has more than 20 years of experience in the high technology industry and extensive experience in successfully creating new business ventures.

Prior to joining 3Com in September 2002, Hattey served as president of EFJohnson Company, a provider of wireless communications systems for public safety, commercial, and government customers. In that time, he led a turnaround of the company resulting in the company’s first profitable year since it went public five years earlier.

From 1997 to 2000, Hattey was vice president of operations for RACOM Corporation, a privately held mobile radio operator. In this position, he oversaw the company’s deployment and maintenance of a digital network covering more than 40,000 square miles.

From 1986 to 1997, Hattey held executive and managerial positions of increasing responsibility at General Electric (GE), the Ericsson/GE joint venture and Ericsson Inc. He led the utility business segment for Ericsson and GE, providing wireless communication networks to investor-owned utilities in North America. Hattey also led Ericsson’s entry into hybrid fiber coax networks.

Hattey earned bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering and computer engineering from University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich. He received his master’s degree in business administration from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business in Durham, N.C. Hattey holds 11 patents.
