Securing the IPBX (SIP-02)
Thursday - 01/25/07, 9:15-10:00am As IPBXs are getting installed at an increasing rate, one must likewise increasingly take security into consideration. This session will discuss how to secure your IP phones and IPBX. Topics include srtp/tls and now to protect agains denial of service attacks and SPIT. Security concerns are heightened when interactive services such as VoIP are rolled out, because firewalls, the traditional network sentries, are unable to address the complexities of VoIP traffic and its accompanying SIP protocol. SIP is required for the delivery of interactive applications, such as VoIP and multimedia. However, its intrinsic complexities, fluid development, and peer-to-peer communication expose networks to a host of security violations. The unsavory and serious security issues associated with SIP include DOS attacks, fraud, service theft, SPIT (spam over Internet telephony) and more. Early Media, and Its Effect on High Volume Applications (SIP-05)
