Thomas Zimmermann was born on February 22, 1968 in Bruchsal, Germany. He studied Business Engineering at the University of Karlsruhe and continued his studies in the USA at the University of Massachusetts and Boston University.
Thomas Zimmermann joined Siemens AG Inhouse Consulting in May 1994 as a consultant in the central strategic development group. In 1999, he became a Partner in Siemens Management Consulting (SMC) and focused on projects in the sectors of telecommunications, industry and transportation systems. Between June 2001 and April 2005 he was head of SMC. During this period, Thomas Zimmermann was involved in the merger of the two Siemens Divisions - Information and Communication Networks (ICN) and Information and Communication Mobile (ICM) - to form Siemens Communications.
He has been President of Enterprise Systems at Siemens Communications since May 2005.
Thomas Zimmermann has a wife and a daughter and lives in Munich. His free time is mainly devoted to his family. He enjoys listening to classical music and his sporting activities include running, skiing and sailing.
