The VoIP awards and dinner on Monday night was held at Internet Telephony Conference & EXPO for about 75 attendees at Bernard’s Restaurant here in the Millennium Hotel in Los Angeles. TMC’s president, Rich Tehrani awarded the 52 winning companies selected to receive the industry’s first ever achievement recognition for developing services and products in the VoIP space.

Tehrani got the crowd very excited when he mentioned that tonight we were honoring the companies that started it all in the VoIP space. “Ten, twenty, thirty years from now you will be remembered as the VoIP industry pioneers, all of you belong to the industry elite, and tonight we want to honor your achievements.” Tehrani then introduced Michael Khalilian, Chairman of the IPCC.

He acknowledged the number of VoIP service providers present as the responsible ones to spread out the new technology in a way that it will one day be easily and commonly recognizable just as legacy telephonic communications is. “In time, however, VoIP will be widely known as Multimedia over broadband,” concluded Khalilian.

It was very exciting seeing representatives from Net2Phone receive their award, a mainstay in the VoIP industry since its inception. This event was truly a great platform for mingling with the VoIP industry elite to form partnerships and make great deals. Congratulations to all the recipients, and best of luck in your endeavors!
