Brian Metherell is vice president and general manager of Toshiba America Information Systems, Telecommunication Systems Division (TAIS TSD). As the leader and visionary of the division, Mr. Metherell is charged with leading the division into the future, creating business communications solutions that deliver on the promise of the VoIP value proposition.
In his role at Toshiba, Mr. Metherell oversees product management, marketing, sales, distribution and customer support for Toshiba business communications solutions, which are available through its extensive nationwide network of Authorized Toshiba Dealers.
Mr. Metherell brings to Toshiba more than 24 years of experience in the telecommunications, data communications and e-commerce industries. With a focus on delivery on strategic, operational and financial objectives, he has been responsible for the execution and management of corporate mergers and acquisitions, new business start-ups and turn arounds, and domestic and international VoIP deployment.
Prior to joining Toshiba, Mr. Metherell was a consultant specializing in domestic and international VoIP deployment, WiFi Geo location deployment, as well as RFID applications. He was previously president of General Telecom, the world’s largest independent gateway switch provider running in excess of 3 billion minutes annually. He was previously the CEO for two emerging e-businesses of iiGroup, a public Internet Holding Company. In addition, Mr. Metherell held several executive level positions with Nortel Networks over a 15-year period, including account vice president for private networks and interexchange carriers; vice president and general manager for Nortel Communications Solutions; and national director of interconnect distribution.
Mr. Metherell graduated with an honors bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Finance from Wilfred Laurier University, Ontario, Canada.
