Automotive Edge Computing Consortium Publishes White Paper: Distributed Computing in an AECC SystemThe Automotive Edge Computing Consortium (AECC), a non-profit consortium of cross-industry players working to drive best practices for the coming vehicle and computing convergence, today announced the publication of the white paper, Distributed Computing in an AECC System, Version 1.0.0, available as a free downloadable document. In the report, the AECC Technical Solutions Working Group (WG2) provides vehicle OEMs, MNOs and the service provider ecosystem with an overview of distributed computing requirements and architecture for deploying connected vehicle services solutions that meet new data communications use case requirements.
"By offering recommendations to vehicle OEMs, MNOs and the service provider ecosystem, the AECC white paper provides ways to optimize service offerings to meet the growing needs of connected vehicle use cases. This white paper helps identify the ways distributed computing can impact how connected vehicles deliver anticipated benefits to vehicle owners and users, vehicle OEMs and the ecosystem of service providers," said Ken-ichi Murata, president and chairperson of the AECC, and fellow of Connected Company at Toyota. "We would like to thank the AECC Technical Solutions Working Group members for all their hard work." By sharing relevant findings, requirements and technology solutions with standards organizations and the public, the AECC aims to encourage the development of connected vehicle best practices and new use cases to accelerate the growth of the entire automotive edge computing industry. Specifically, the AECC whitepaper profiles the solutions developed by the following organizations:
AECC Membership Benefits All companies interested in contributing to the connected vehicle services ecosystem are encouraged to become AECC members. AECC membership is open to organizations across any business vertical that are compelled to create a new era where connected vehicles utilize the full benefits of high-volume data for the evolution of the connected world in ways that improve safety, sustainability, reliability and the mobility user experience. About the AECC The Automotive Edge Computing Consortium (AECC) is an association of cross-industry, global leaders working to explore the rapidly evolving and significant data and communications needs involved in instrumenting billions of vehicles worldwide. The AECC's goal is to find more efficient ways to support distributed computing and infrastructure network architectures to support the high-volume data needed for intelligent vehicle services. The AECC's members are key players in the automotive, high-speed mobile network, edge computing, wireless technology, distributed computing and artificial intelligence markets.
