PTC offers an Associates Degree in network security and computer forensics, in which students learn about cybersecurity trends, information assurance and regulatory compliance, and security auditing.
Michael Hodder, IT Faculty member at PTC, knows that he has a small window to equip the next generation of IT leaders for positions of responsibility at leading enterprises; and it's not a charge he takes lightly. To ensure that students at PTC are fully prepared for the professional IT world, Hodder seeks to provide them with hands-on experience using market-leading solutions. "What makes us different at Pittsburgh Technical College is that we have a hands-on approach to learning," says Hodder. "Most colleges have lectures, homework and tests. Here, you do those things, but also spend a fair amount of time making solutions work." With a keen focus on equipping students for post-graduate qualifications, PTC sought out reputable technology suppliers for partnership, to offer students access to current market solutions, concluding that Comodo Cybersecurity was the best decision. PTC sought a platform that would reflect what students encounter at managed service providers (MSPs) since a large number of graduates are hired as network operations center (NOC) engineers or in help desk positions. Specifically, PTC wanted students to interact with production-grade products and iterfaces, with visibility into multiple organizations' networks. The Comodo One platform was a seamless fit. One of the significant reasons Hodder selected the platform is because it is cloud-based and easy to implement: "There was zero turn-around time on installation, allowing me to focus more time on teaching concepts that the students need to know."
