Anthem Names Dr. Prakash Patel Executive Vice President and President, Diversified Business GroupAnthem, Inc. (NYSE:ANTM) announced today Prakash Patel, M.D., has been named Executive Vice President and President, Diversified Business Group, effective August 6, 2018. In this role, Dr. Patel will be responsible for leading Anthem's Diversified Business Group (DBG), which includes the company's AIM, CareMore, Health Insights and HealthCore businesses. He will have responsibility for delivering new sources of growth by advancing integrated clinical care models and developing innovative solutions that improve quality and health outcomes for consumers and customers. Dr. Patel will also serve as a member of the company's Executive Leadership Team and report directly to Gail K. Boudreaux, President and Chief Executive Officer, Anthem. "Dr. Patel is a respected leader with an impressive track record of success across a wide range of companies within our industry," said Boudreaux. "His breadth and depth of healthcare experience will serve us well in our efforts to develop innovative approaches to care that deliver higher value for Anthem and our Diversified Business Group customers while deepening our relatonships within the healthcare community." Dr. Patel has more than 23 years of experience across a broad scope of healthcare disciplines, including pharmaceutical, managed care, strategy, corporate development, operations and clinical services experience, including complex care management. He is a strong leader who has been recognized for his ability to both shape and grow organizations through a combination of strategic vision and strong operational expertise. Dr. Patel currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of the GuideWell Enterprise and Florida Blue, as well as President of GuideWell Health. Prior to his current role, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Access Mediquip and has held executive roles with Magellan (News - Alert) Health Services, Internet Healthcare Group, and Scheer & Company. Dr. Patel earned his Bachelor of Science degree in anthropology and zoology from the University of Michigan and his Medical Doctorate degree from Cornell University Medical College.
