Sallie Mae Bank Awards $120,000 in College Scholarships to Utah Students


For 38 Utah students, the dream of a college degree is closer to becoming a reality as Sallie Mae Bank today announced $120,000 in college scholarships to aspiring engineers, nurses, and teachers attending a college or university in Utah for the 2018-19 academic year.

Sallie Mae Bank's annual scholarship program provides financial assistance to qualifying Utah students whose courses of study will lead them to careers in some of Utah's most in-demand professions, including engineering, nursing, teaching, and respiratory therapy. Since its inception in 2007, the program has awarded more than $1 million to nearly 300 Utah students.

"Education is the key to a brighter future, and these scholarships are just one way we support tomorrow's leaders today and invest in our local community," said Paul Thome, president, Sallie Mae Bank. "Congratulations to each of this year's scholarship recipients. Their shared ingenuity, commitment to community, and dedication to academic excellence are commendable and inspiring.
