Justify's Attempt at Triple Crown in Belmont Stakes to Air Live on SiriusXM


NEW YORK, June 7, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- SiriusXM will offer listeners nationwide comprehensive coverage of the 2018 Belmont Stakes and the historic attempt by Justify to achieve thoroughbred racing's illustrious Triple Crown.

SiriusXM – through its broadcasting agreement with Horse Racing Radio Network (HRRN) – airs all Triple Crown races as well as the Breeders' Cup World Championships. The wire-to-wire race broadcast of the Belmont Stakes is provided by NBC Sports Radio and produced in partnership with HRRN and Westwood One.

On Saturday, June 9, SiriusXM will air live broadcasts originating from Belmont Park in Elmont, NY starting at 8:00 am ET. The pre-race coverage includes HRRN's exclusive coverage of the undercard races at 2:00 pm ET. It will lead into the live call of the 150th running of the Belmont Stakes, heard on SiriusXM Rush (channel 93 on satellite radios and on the SiriusXM app) via NBC Sports Radio, who will present live coverage from 5:00 – 7:30 pm ET (post time approximately 6:37 pm ET), produced in partnership with HRRN and Westwood One.

Justify won the Kentucky Derby in sloppy conditions by two and a half lengths on May 5. In the Preakness Stakes on May 19 Justify won again in sloppy conditions, this time beating the competition by just a half a length. Justify, along with jockey Mike Smith, will attempt to become the 13th Triple Crown winner in thoroughbred racing history, and the first since American Pharaoh won the elusive trifecta in 2015.  

Pre-race coverage airing on SiriusXM will include HRRN's Equine Forum show, airing live from Belmont from 8:00 – 10:00 am ET with live interviews and analysis (Sirius channel 219, XM channel 201, and channel 964 on the SiriusXM app). 

At 10:00 am ET, listeners can tune to SiriusXM Rush for a special extended edition of SiriusXM's Down the Stretch, hosted by Dave Johnson and Bill Finley. Johnson, the acclaimed track announcer, and Finley will air an interview with Bob Baffert, Justify's trainer who also trained American Pharaoh, and provide listeners with day-of news and pre-race analysis, and interviews with jockeys, trainers and owners.

Throughout the week leading up to race day, SiriusXM's At The Races with Steve Byk airs daily 9:00 am12:00 pm ET, featuring daily interviews with handicapping experts and trainers and an in-depth look at the field (Sirius channel 219, XM channel 201 and channel 964 on the SiriusXM app).

Brent Musburger's preview of the Belmont Stakes will air on The Vegas Stats & Information Network (VSiN) on SiriusXM (channel 204 on satellite radios and on the SiriusXM app) on Friday, June 8,at 8:00 pm ET and throughout the morning on Saturday.
