BAE Systems Lands New Leader for its Air Force Solutions Business

BAE Systems (News - Alert), Inc. today announced the hiring of Peter B. Trainer as the vice president and general manager of its Air Force Solutions business area. Trainer, a long-time defense executive and career U.S. Air Force officer, will lead a unit that provides the Air Force and combatant commands with innovative solutions to help modernize, maintain, test, and cyber-harden aircraft, radars, missile systems, and mission applications that detect and deter threats to national security.

"Pete has an impressive record overseeing a diverse portfolio of programs covering space operations, enterprise IT, cyber security, sustainment, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance that makes him a natural fit for our organization," said Al Whitmore, president of BAE Systems' Intelligence & Security sector. "He also shares our commitment to solving the Air Force's biggest challenges with innovative solutions that enhance its agility, flexibility, and readiness."

Trainer joins BAE Systems from SAIC (News - Alert), where he was responsible for business development, management, and strategy within the company's Air Force Operations business unit. Prior to working in the private sector, Trainer spent 30 years in the Air Force on active duty and in the reserves. His assignments included service on the Air Force's Legislative Liaison staff advocating for space, intelligence, and missile programs to Congress. He culminated his military career in the rank of colonel as the Senior Individual Mobilization Augmentee to the director of the National Reconnaissance Office.

BAE Systems' Air Force Solutions business is part of the company's Intelligence & Security sector, which delivers a broad range of solutions and services across air, land, sea, space, and cyber domains to help militaries and governments successfully carry out their missions. BAE Systems takes pride in its support of national security and those who serve.
