Morgan Properties Teams Up with Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation to Raise Money for Childhood Cancer Research

Morgan Properties, one of the nation's largest real estate investment and management companies, announced today it has teamed up with Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) to participate in the organization's national Lemonade Days on June 8. Lemonade Days is ALSF's annual event where thousands of supporters around the country host lemonade stands simultaneously to raise money for childhood cancer research. Morgan Properties will host lemonade stands at 133 of its apartment communities and contribute a corporate donation to further support the foundation's efforts to fight childhood cancer.

"As a family business and apartment owner/operator, giving back to the communities in which we serve is at the core of who we are and what we do at Morgan Properties," said Jason Morgan (News - Alert), Senior Vice President of Acquisitions and Investment Management at Morgan Properties. "Our communities are homes to people from all walks of life, and finding ways to combat childhood illness is a cause near and dear to my heart. It's an honor to stand alongside Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation and Lemonade Days' participants across the country in the fight against childhood cancer and to help raise money for much-needed research. We hope our residents and members of the 133 communities where we'll be hosting lemonade stands will join us on June 8 for a day of fun and fundraising in support of this important cause."

Lemonade Days is a week-long event held from Saturday, June 2 to Sunday, June 10. The event was inspired by ALSF founder Alexandra "Alex" Scott who held her first lemonade stand at age four to help find a cure for all childhood cancers, including her own. Through yearly lemonade stands with her family and the help of people across the country who hosted their own stands in support of her cause, Alex raised over $1 million before she passed away in 2004. Since that time, Lemonade Days has had over 26,000 stands and raised over $14 million for childhood cancer research.

"We're excited for Morgan Properties to join us during Lemonade Days," said Liz Scott, Co-Executive Director of Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation and Alex's mom. "We're grateful for the generosity and support of the Morgan Properties' communities, residents, and members to this important cause - finding cures for all kids with cancer."

Participating Morgan Properties apartment communities are located in 10 states: Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, and Nebraska. About Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra "Alex" Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of supporters across the country carrying on her legacy of hope. To date, Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 charity, has raised more than $150 million toward fulfilling Alex's dream of finding a cure, funding over 800 pediatric cancer research projects nationally. In addition, ALSF provides support to families affected by childhood cancer through programs such as Travel For Care and SuperSibs.
