HopeWay to Honor Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina In-Network Insurance Coverage

HopeWay announced today its Charlotte nonprofit mental health center for adults will honor in-network insurance coverage from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC), effective May 1.

The coverage by Blue Cross NC, in addition to HopeWay's existing in-network coverage by Magellan (News - Alert) Health Inc., is an important step in achieving HopeWay's mission of making quality mental health care more affordable and accessible. Blue Cross NC serves more than 3.89 million customers; Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies nationally insure one in three Americans. In addition, all HopeWay clients and families are encouraged to apply for HopeWay's financial aid program, which is continuously funded by an annual fundraising campaign.

"We are thrilled to become in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield as we aim to increase access to top-notch quality mental health care for adults in the Charlotte region and from across the nation," said Dr. Alyson R. Kuroski-Mazzei, a triple-boarded psychiatrist who is HopeWay's chief executive officer and chief medical officer. "HopeWay's mission is to 'Make Hope Tangible by Inspiring Mental Wellness for All,' and this coverage will help us deliver evidence-based psychiatric and medical care to more individuals living with mental health issues. We are grateful for the community and our current clients and families for trusting HopeWay and the care we provide as we move toward being in network with majr insurance companies."

HopeWay last August earned The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval® for Behavioral Health Care Accreditation and was awarded a Behavioral Health Home Certification bestowed on only two programs in North Carolina and 31 in the nation.

HopeWay started serving clients in November 2016, filling a gap between acute care and outpatient treatment in the Charlotte region by offering both a "step down" from hospitalization and a preventative step to avoid hospitalization. HopeWay's 12-acre campus in South Charlotte includes 36 private rooms for residential clients, facilities for group and family counseling and therapies ranging from cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapies, to art, cooking and horticulture to music, recreation and pastoral counseling. The nonprofit center, where treatment is voluntary, also can accommodate approximately 50 clients in its Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient day treatment programs. HopeWay's admission process starts with a call to (888) 859-2106.
