Diffeo Announces Availability of Collaborative Intelligence for Microsoft Exchange and Windows Shared Drives

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., April 19, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Diffeo announced today the general availability of new capabilities for Microsoft Exchange email servers and Windows Shared Drives. Several large enterprises are already putting these new capabilities into production as part of their private cloud deployments of Diffeo, the collaborative intelligence platform.

As discussed further in this blog post, Diffeo has been studying business analysts and decision makers. Through interviews, data science and many days of working side-by-side with analysts and shadowing executives, the Diffeo team has been tabulating patterns of friction between humans and machines so that collaborative algorithms can be applied to close the gap.

“Every training class is an opportunity to learn how people get work done,” says Cogan Culver, a Principal Intelligence Analyst at Diffeo. “When joining an analyst to work on a project at his or her desk, we focus on tradecraft and tools for uncovering the whole story. Along the way, we track the patterns and pain points––those moments of friction where traditional software splits the user’s attention and slows don progress.” Those are opportunities for better human-machine collaboration.

This intense study focused on how to make user interaction with Microsoft Exchange email more efficient. “Now you can Opt-In to having Diffeo index your email and attachments in your organization’s Exchange server,” explains Aaron Taylor, Director of Cloud Services at Diffeo.

Diffeo’s integrations with Microsoft Exchange and Windows Shared Drives allow you to fully leverage your organization’s existing knowledge. Diffeo recommends critical insights from past emails right alongside your work. When you receive an incoming email, Diffeo will surface related past emails that help you determine your course of action. Too often, critical knowledge is obscured by the volume of content an organization accumulates over time. Past after-action reports and other important learnings are not applied to current situations.

Diffeo grew out of research in DARPA Memex, NIST’s Text Retrieval Conference (TREC) and other research efforts. By measuring the effectiveness of recommender algorithms, Diffeo’s team discovered that users find the most useful nuggets of knowledge at the decision boundary of entity disambiguation algorithms. This research result led to a platform of user-facing sensors that enable recommender algorithms to “hang in there” with users working through complex networks and vast repositories of unstructured data.

Users invite Diffeo into familiar tools, such as Firefox and Outlook, so Diffeo can highlight knowledge gaps and uncover connections. Diffeo recommends documents and related entities with evidence of relationships from unstructured data, such as private data rooms and the deep Web.

“Already in use by many mission critical business teams, the Diffeo platform, which combines entity-centric recommendations with smart tag cloud search of disparate data sources across public and private networks, is changing how people understand their counterparties,” remarked Geoffrey Milstein, VP of Public Sector at Diffeo.

See the platform in action at the Diffeo Booth (#511) at the 2018 GEOINT Symposium, April 22-25 at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, FL; or contact the Diffeo team at 703-389-6288.
