Cylance® Earns "Recommended" Rating in NSS Labs' Second Annual Next-Generation Advanced Endpoint Protection Group Test

Cylance Inc., the company that revolutionized endpoint security with true AI powered threat prevention, announced today that it has achieved the NSS Labs Recommended rating in that organization's second annual Advanced Endpoint Protection (AEP) Group Test. CylancePROTECT and CylanceOPTICS garnered high scores in both security effectiveness and low total cost of ownership. In-depth details can be found in the follow-on test that resulted in a 99.1% security effectiveness rating.

A Recommended rating from NSS indicates that a product has performed well and deserves strong consideration. Only the endpoint security products with high security effectiveness scores and low total cost of ownership earn a Recommended rating from NSS Labs, regardless of market share, company size, or brand recognition.

"NSS Labs has one of the most broad-based testing methodologies on the market today that includes various delivery mechanisms for malware, exploits, evasions, unknown threats and blended threats. They performed stringent due diligence and conducted a thorough test," said Chad Skipper, Vice President of Competitive Intelligence and Product Testing at Cylance (News - Alert). "We applaud NSS Labs' dedication to their testing methodologies and evaluation of products on a level playing field."

About the NSS Labs AEP Group Test

AEP products employ sophisticated techniques such as machine learning, pattern recognition, or predictive algorithms to detect and block malware that contain suspicious activities. Additionally, AEP products monitor processes running on endpoints, detect any communication with potentially malicious hosts, and conduct audits of file systems and registries. AEP products typically implement automated threat remediation policies as well as provide containment capabilities to protect the endpoint.

In this second iteration of the NSS Labs AEP Group Test, testing was expanded to include evasions, which have become the latest weapons used by adversaries to circumvent security controls. In addition to evasions, products were tested against malware delivered through HTTP, email, docs and scripts, offline threats, unknown threats, exploits, and blended threats.

NSS Labs is committed to providing empirical data and objective group test results that enable organizations to make educated decisions about purchasing and optimizing security infrastructure products and services. As with all NSS Labs group tests, there is no fee for participation, and the test methodology is available in the public domain to provide transparency and to help enterprises understand the factors behind test results.
