Wave Computing CTO to Present Latest Details of its Dataflow Systems at Prestigious Technical Conferences

CAMPBELL, Calif., April 09, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Wave Computing®, the Silicon Valley company that is revolutionizing artificial intelligence (AI) and deep learning with its dataflow-based systems, announced today that Chief Technology Officer Dr. Chris Nicol will be presenting at the IEEE Custom Integrated Circuits Conference (CICC) event being held in San Diego, Calif., beginning today. The title of his presentation will be “Training Deep Neural Networks on a Reconfigurable Non-Von Neumann Computer Architecture.” Additionally, Nicol will present at the Linley Spring Processor Conference on Wednesday, April 11, in Santa Clara, Calif.  The title of his presentation will be “Training a Neural Network Using Dataflow Computing.”

In these presentations Nicol will detail how replacing the legacy CPU + coprocessor computer architecture paradigm with a dataflow-based approch enables a superior, more scalable platform for the training and inferencing of deep neural networks. He will show how Wave Computing’s AI systems leverage data and model parallelism with the mapping of a deep neural network graph on Wave’s dataflow architecture. In addition, Nicol will present training examples of the company’s variable fixed point Versipoint technology, as well as preview Wave’s upcoming system for on-premise use.

About Dr. Chris Nicol
Dr. Chris Nicol is the CTO of Wave Computing and the lead architect of the DPU architecture incorporated into the company’s deep learning solutions. In addition to his duties as CTO, Nicol leads the architectural teams for hardware and software as well as the company’s data science efforts.
