Versive CTO Dustin Rigg Hillard to Participate in AI and Cybersecurity Panel at 2018 RSA Conference

Versive today announced its participation in the "Age of the Machines in Cyber-Machine Learning and AI, the Next Frontier" panel at RSA: The largest cybersecurity conference that draws more than 50,000 attendees per year. The panel will be held on Thursday, April 19th from 9:15am-10am at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

Dustin Rigg Hillard (News - Alert), Versive's CTO, will be discussing AI's role in the rapidly changing cybersecurity landscape. This will include evaluating how much of the excitement around AI is warranted, where it's been successfully applied, and what it takes to be successful with AI in cybersecurity. Ira Winkler will be moderating the panel, which consists of Bruce Schneier, the CTO of IBM Security and Oliver Friedrichs (News - Alert), the founder and CEO of Phantom.

"I'm excited to join this panel of esteemed cybersecurity experts" said Hillard. "I look forward to contributing to the conversation around AI and machine learning, its place within cybersecurity as threats are evolving, and how we can effectively and safely use advanced technology to thwart cyber threats and protect businesses, governments, and consumers."

As CTO, Hillard is responsible for etting the vision to build products that automate human expertise with machine learning. Prior to starting Versive in 2012, Hillard worked as a senior scientist at Microsoft (News - Alert) helping bring natural understanding of speech to Microsoft products and spent three years at Yahoo!, focusing on improving ad relevance and revenue through machine learning models.

Launched in May 2017, the Versive (News - Alert) Security Engine uses AI to compare suspicious behaviors against the network norm to determine if a pattern of behaviors is malicious, thus identifying hackers and bad actors that have already gained access to a network. VSE combines proprietary machine learning with expert understanding of how hackers operate to hunt for these adversaries who are already hidden in a network, and only presents users with the most pressing threats. The company's 'less is more' ideology allows security teams to focus their time on stopping the attacks that matter most instead of spending time reviewing meaningless alerts.

"It's a pleasure to have Dustin on the panel, and sharing his thoughts on the topic," said Joe Polverari, CEO of Versive. "The 'less is more' approach that he's pioneered provides a different look at applying AI to threat detection. Attendees will leave the presentation with an entirely new outlook on the role of AI -- and humans -- in cybersecurity."
