TORONTO, March 6, 2018 /CNW/ - Rogers Connected for Success program today announced it has surpassed 200 housing partners with the addition of SHIP (Services and Housing in the Province) in the Peel region. In its fifth year, Rogers low-cost internet program is available to more than 12,000 households in the Peel region through close to 20 housing partners. Now more than 150,000 households are eligible to benefit from the Connected for Success program.

Beginning this month, Rogers is also increasing the data usage cap for current and future participants in the program from 30 GB per month to 100 GB.

"Since launching Connected for Success five years ago with Toronto Community Housing, our world has only become more digital – internet access isn't a luxury anymore, it's an absolute necessity," said Peter King, Senior Director of Corporate Social Responsibility, Rogers. "We believe that this partnership with SHIP will continue to open a world of possibilities for eligible households. For us, this is about investing in our commnities and helping Canadians connect with their families, friends, and the digital economy."

"SHIP is very pleased to partner with Rogers to give our tenants an easier and more affordable way to connect with supports, family and friends, and access other resources," said Laurie Ridler, Chief Executive Officer of SHIP. "Staying connected to the world and being able to connect with people will always improve the quality of life for all."

"Affordable internet access will ensure our residents stay connected with their families, school, work and all other online resources," said Mayor of Brampton, Linda Jeffrey. "In this digital age, access to internet is key in ensuring that all our residents stay integrated with their community in Brampton and the Region of Peel, allowing them a better chance to succeed. I am very pleased to see this partnership between Rogers and SHIP in Peel."

Connected for Success is available to rent-geared-to-income and subsidized tenants who live in non-profit housing or co-ops across Rogers footprint in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Ontario. No contract or credit check is required upon sign up, and includes speeds of up to 10 Mbps download and up to 1 Mbps upload.
