Virtek® Simplifies Complex Production Processes for Aerospace Manufacturing

WATERLOO, Ontario, March 1, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Virtek demonstrates the Vision Positioning System (VPS) at booth N78 during JEC World. With a smaller, faster scanning system, improved portability, and FlashAlign™ — a new feature eliminating manual target alignment — Iris 3D with VPS reaffirms Virtek's position as the global leader in laser technology.

Virtek's Vision Positioning System combines laser projection and an integrated patented vision technology that is proven to dramatically improve process efficiency and significantly save on costs.

VPS improves composite manufacturing assembly and lay up processes, minimizes highly-skilled labor while maintaining safety and quality for various sized companies across the composite and aerospace marketplaces.

"In 2017, we demonstrated a new industry standard in laser projection with the introduction of VPS along with a multitude of software and hardware developments," said Sean Francoz, senior product manager at Virtek. "These developments have continuously broken the laser barrier for flexible solutions offered to improve productivity in complex manufacturing processes."

"We are very familiar with laser technology and its benefits and began the journey with Virtek with their LaserEdge® solution for several projects over a decade ago. We felt it was a natural progression to move to the new Iris™ platform with the new state of the art vision- based laser technology when we had a need for a new project," said Türker Dölek, composite production chief, Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) Inc. "We are seeing significant benefits with the flash align feature saving time during alignment as well as the systems are demonstrating an increase in throughput resulting in cost savings."

"TAI was the first customer in Europe to install and put into production the VPS as part of an early adopter program. The smooth transition was a team effort between TAI a global supplier and customer and the Virtek strategic account, service and applications teams," continued Francoz.

Beyond te VPS system, Virtek introduced a new Laser Projector (LPS-10), an upgrade to the incredibly successful LPS-7. This new laser projection system offers both short- and long-range capabilities, including advancements in software, and demonstrates Virtek's commitment to innovation and tailoring products to the needs of every customer.

"We have been known for trust, reliability, and innovation for the last 31 years and will continue this tradition with new products well into the future," said Todd Rhodes, vice president and general manager, Virtek. "We are constantly reimagining how technology can be used to increase safety and efficiency all while simplifying complex manufacturing processes for our customers."
