eyeSight Technologies and SEAT Join Forces to Increase Driver SafetyBARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 26, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- eyeSight Technologies, a leader in embedded computer vision and deep learning solutions, today announces its joined forces with SEAT – a leading car manufacturer in Spain specializing in design, innovation, engineering and performance. The two companies have come together to provide the most advanced sensing technology for the in-car environment that will detect distraction and drowsiness and take action through the car’s safety systems. SEAT will be showcasing eyeSight’s driver monitoring solution in the Leon Cristobal Concept Car at the 2018 Mobile World Congress Show in Barcelona. With the driver as the main focal point and an effort to decrease distracted and drowsy driving, eyeSight’s solution uses an IR sensor, together with edge computing to detect the driver’s attention to the road and to monitor when the driver is distracted, shows signs of drowsiness or simply the direction of sight. The intelligent solution is enabled by a new level of learning and fine-tuned computer vision to ensure that once drowsiness or distraction is detected, eyeSight’s solution will inform in real-time the car systems to provide an alert to wake the driver if he or she is drowsy or take proactive action through the safety systems, such as the activation of a wake-up sequence. “We are excited to work with SEAT to help provide consumers the most natural and safe driving experience,” said Gideon Shmuel, CEO of eyeSight Technologies. “Our experience in this field and vision for intelligent control of the in-car environment will enhance the driver experience and help prevent distracted driving. With the market transition o semi-autonomous cars, it’s vital that automotive solutions provide the highest quality of driver awareness technology.” SEAT is committed to improving urban mobility with solutions that are innovative and smart. With an emphasis on safe driving, the Leon Cristobal is the safest car in the history of the brand, as it is equipped with 15 advanced safety assistant systems whose functions contribute to reducing the main causes of road collisions. “SEAT’s collaboration with eyeSight Technologies underscores our commitment to driver safety,” said Stefan Ilijevic, Head of Innovation and Patent Department of SEAT. “Distraction and drowsiness are factors that cause more than 30 percent of all traffic collisions, but with the help of eyeSight’s advanced driver monitoring technology, our goal is to help significantly reduce these distractions and to make driving a safer endeavor.” SEAT plans to demo eyeSight’s driver monitoring solutions at MWC starting on Feb. 26 at Hall 3 booth 20. eyeSight will also be featuring its automotive solutions, at this year’s show on Feb. 26 at booth 5D61, Hall 5 in the Israeli Pavilion.
