TripleCare Introduces Telemedicine Services within the Ocean Healthcare Network

TripleCare, a national provider of telemedicine-based healthcare services to skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), announced today that the Company has introduced its services to the Ocean Healthcare Network, a network of family owned and operated New Jersey-based healthcare centers.

Effective January 4, 2018, three Ocean Healthcare post-acute care centers in New Jersey began utilizing TripleCare's innovative telemedicine solution. These include:

  • South Mountain Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, 2385 Springfield Avenue, Vauxhall, NJ 07088
  • Park Crescent Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, 480 N Walnut Street, East Orange (News - Alert), NJ 07017
  • Hampton Ridge Healthcare and Rehabilitation, 94 Stevens Road, Toms River, NJ 08755

TripleCare's virtual healthcare services are offered at these facilities during times when physicians are not on site, such as overnight, during the weekends and on holidays, when many hospital transfers from SNFs occur. During these times, the Company's network of highly trained physicians perform virtual bedside visits, treating patients in place, using advanced technology, coupled with assistance from the facility's experienced, on-site nurses. TripleCare's virtual services make it possible for its physicians to differentiate between patients who can be treated in place at the local facilities versus those who would require a hospital transfer.

"Introducing TripleCare within the Ocean Healthcare Network is already proving beneficial in reducing ER visits and improving patient care and comfort. In just a short time since the rollout, Ocean Healthcare is indicating that our service is reducing hospital ER visits and improving outcomes of their patients. We look forward to introducing services across other facilities within the Ocean Healthcare Network, based on the successes realized to date at the three locations where services were implemented, and having positive impact on the ptients and their families and staff," said Mary Jo Gorman, chief executive officer at TripleCare.

Joseph Kiernan, Ocean Healthcare's chief strategy officer and senior vice president, network development, added: "It is known that one of the biggest challenges in skilled nursing care is 'off' hours - evenings and weekends. While we have physicians on staff, it isn't realistic to have doctors on-site around the clock to respond to every emergent situation. Traditionally, off-hour emergencies in our facilities resulted in patients being sent to the area medical center's emergency room, oftentimes unnecessarily. This is disconcerting for patients, and can cause an interruption in their regular care regimen that can prove to be counter-productive. In the past, we would likely have sent patients to the ER to ensure their stability. Now, with TripleCare, we can greatly reduce these ER visits while improving patient outcomes."

The three New Jersey facilities currently utilizing TripleCare are the first members of the Ocean Healthcare Network to roll out the pilot program. It is anticipated that other network members will gradually follow suit.
