Granite CEO Gives $100 Million More to HospitalsGranite Telecommunications (News - Alert), LLC, a provider of communications solutions to businesses and governmental agencies, announced that its CEO & President Rob Hale and his wife, Karen Hale, are donating $100 million to two world-renown hospitals, Brigham and Women's Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital. The $100 million donation will be divided evenly between the two institutions, making Brigham and Women's $50 million portion the largest single gift it has ever received and Boston Children's Hospital's $50 million split will tie its all-time high. "If anyone deserves acknowledgement for this donation it's my team at Granite who works tirelessly day in and day out to make Granite the best it can be," Rob Hale said. "Without our success as a business first, we would not be able to give back to the community in the way we have. I'm truly grateful for my team and all the good things their hard work has made possible." Granite and the Hales have been repeatedly recognized as philanthropic leaders. In past years, Granite has hosted large fundraisers, including its Granite Day event and Saving by Shaving, which together have raised over $17.5 million for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. On a weekly basis, the company raises about $5,000 for local charities that are nominated by a member of Granite's staff in any of the local communities where Granite has offices. Through this program, Granite has supported more than 00 local charities with over $1.7 million in donations. Granite's philanthropy is not limited to financial contributions either. To increase the hand-on, personal involvement in the charitable causes that the company supports, Granite has set up a Volunteer Time Off program for Granite teammates to be credited and paid for work hours for giving their time to meaningful activities in their local communities. Granite's teammates have built computer labs for local high schools, cleaned up public parks and volunteered at children's hospitals, among various other activities. Granite also created its own nonprofit, Granite Gives Back, to use as a vehicle to identify, plan and fund philanthropic projects in the community.
