CalAmp and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Partner to Streamline Fleet Operations

IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- CalAmp (Nasdaq: CAMP), a telematics pioneer leading transformation in a global connected economy, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Bureau of Vehicle Management (BVM) today announced an initiative to reduce costs and streamline the operations of the state-owned vehicle fleets through the deployment of CalAmp's FleetOutlook™.

The Commonwealth's BVM oversees approximately 11,000 passenger, emergency and off-road vehicles and is responsible for ensuring the most efficient use of taxpayer resources. FleetOutlook will be deployed on nearly half its vehicles across the state in an effort to gain better insights into vehicle utilization and operational status in order to increase efficiency, proactively address maintenance issues and protect against vehicle theft. Driver assistance and real-time accident alerts are FleetOutlook capabilities that BVM will be leveraging to further encourage good driving behavior and improve worker safety.

"Understanding fleet utilization by gaining actionable intelligence is a valuable first step for government fleet operators to make more informed decisions about their vehicles and identify opportunities for efficiency gains," said Paul Washicko, senior vice president and general manager of CalAmp's Software and Subscription Services business. "FleetOutlook will help BVM save operating expenses and optimize operations of Pennsylvania's state-owned vehicles.

"We look forward to implementing CalAmp's IoT technologies in our efforts to improve the safety and management of the Commonwealth's vehicles fleet," said James Fiore, director, Pennsylvania Department of General Services, Bureau of Vehicle Management. "Pennsylvania has been able to achieve a high level of success when it comes to the management of our fleet. We believe FleetOutlook's reporting, analysis and management features will complement our current systems and help us to continue our efforts through an easy-to-use platform that will enable us to collect and analyze data that will assist in making improvement decisions regarding fleet utilization, fuel cost savings and safer operation of our vehicles."
