Tech Industry Veterans Disrupt Dementia Care Norms With High-Tech Solutions

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill., Jan. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Terra Vista has torn down barriers and harnessed both technology and nature to focus on mental and physical health with a dose of fun, social interaction. Terra Vista has instituted numerous technological programs, including: Brain Athletics, Masterpiece, Harmony, Green Thumb, Caremerge, and other advances, such as a 24/7 Stay Connected App that allows families to view the progress of their ailing loved one.

At the heart of Terra Vista's technology-core are Moshe Bellows and Laura Zung. Moshe Bellows is SVP of Meridian Equity Partners and has been a noted advisor to many early stage tech companies for over 20 years, including Envoy America, Indicative, ScaleAbout, Ksolo (Sold to Fox interactive/MySpace), and Xtify (Sold to IBM). Laura Zung is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School and Stanford's Graduate School of Business, with a once high tech career at NetObjects and NTT/Verio.

Aside from being tech industry veterans, both came from multi-generational, senior health care families and experienced personally how Alzheimer's and dementia put immeasurable stress on an entire family. "By taking our three-generation family businesses of 40+ years, and overlaying them with proven, family-engagement technologies, disrupting the Alzheimer's Assisted living space became our obsession," Bellows states. "Laura, myself, and both our professional and personal families, felt it was our calling and contribution to all families struggling with Alzheimer's."

Terra Vista made a commitment to technological advancement to provide more ways that residents could not only engage with their surroundings, but engage with their own families and vice versa. Technology's ability to connect people could not be overlooked. It is how today's families expect to communicate with and relate to their loved ones.

Caremerge CEO Asif Khan said, "They were the first to utilize and leverage our technology. When you see the great care that Terra Vista of Oakbrook Terrace provides, you simply can't help but want to be part of it. Their knowledge of residents' and families' needs and their constant pushing of the envelope to provide best in class service is inspiring."
