Smart Government Pavilion to Kick off "Smartly" at Taiwan IT Month Expo 2017Taiwan is big on tech and all things digital, and best demonstrates this during its annual Information Technology Month Expo. The event will kick off on December 6 and run until December 11 in Taipei. The National Development Council expects through the exhibition to showcase five different areas in which the government has made good progress. In collaboration with partners in the industry, the Smart Government Pavilion will be presenting a theme zone, "Asia's Silicon Valley", will transform and upgrade, Taiwan's industrial structure with IOT, Drive economic growth with innovation and entrepreneurship together with the five-tiered digital themes. The five areas that visitors should check out when visiting: Cloud Computing: The government is providing cloud-based services. With the foundation of green data centers, government services will be available and scalable anytime when needed. Big Data: In respons to the rise of citizen participation awareness, the government has launched the "join.gov.tw", the public participation platform, aimed at gathering a wide range of public opinions. The government also use big data analytics to proactively find out what services should be provided. So far, the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Ministry of Finance have set up their own big data analytics centers, while others use the shared resources of computing power and software in "National Center for High-performance Computing". The Internet of Things: Taiwan is introducing the use of IntelliSense in infrastructure, and bringing smart technology into agriculture management and related industries. It also has been used for Telemedicine and to alert the water level of river and the earth flow. Artificial Intelligence: Here, A.I. will come in handy in smoothing your work commute, enforcing safety and timeliness for public transportation, and also take the form of caretaking robots that will keep elderly folks company at home or provide with customer service. Virtual Reality: VR will be the new way to put cultural objects and historical artifacts on display, the way the National Palace Museum has been done in showcasing old and new together, pairing ancient calligraphy with virtual reality. In addition, the exhibition will be broadcast live for those who will not be there. It will run through Dec. 11 at the Taipei World Trade Center.
