Memory Power Management

This patent protects a technique to reduce power consumption and heat generation in a system containing large amounts of DRAM and/or flash memory, such as Violin's Flash Storage Platform. This is achieved by actively placing memory components into a low power state, while still maintaining the refresh cycles required. Coupled with vRAID technology, performance is ot impacted by the time delay associated with devices in a low power state, thus guaranteeing a consistent level of performance while saving power and data center cooling.

"With our restructuring of the company behind us, we are now focusing on both product leadership and operational excellence. This patent is yet another example of our commitment to this journey. With these innovations, we intend to provide our valued customers and partners with the best and the most forward-looking solutions," stated Ebrahim Abbasi, Violin Systems' CEO and President.
