Santa to Make Cyber-Visits to Shriners Hospitals for ChildrenNEW YORK, Dec. 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Global IT services and solutions provider, Dimension Data, and Shriners Hospitals for Children will bring virtual holiday visits with Santa Claus to patients through advanced video technology similar to that used for telemedicine. Young patients and their families who may otherwise be unable to visit Santa during the holiday season will be able to do so at Shriners Hospital locations in Erie, Pa.; Houston; Philadelphia; and Portland, Ore. "Santa and healthcare professionals are both in high demand," said Jim Hirt, SVP, marketing and alliances, Dimension Data Americas. "Whether it's a visit from the North Pole or an important check-in with a specialist, technology has changed the way doctors, caregivers and even Santa Claus can interact with patients and children all over the world." The video collaboration solution will broadcast from the North Pole to large screen televisions in each location, allowing children to interact with Santa in real time, as if they were in the same room. Each child will also receive a gift bag from Santa, and volunteers from Dimension Data and Shriners Hospital will fill in as Santa's helpers to create a memorable atmosphere and experience for everyone involved. "Our partnership with Dimension Data delivers cutting edge technology solutions to our team of medical professionals," said Eugene D'Amore, VP of hospital operations and CIO at Shriners Hospitals for Children. "Advanced telepresence technology like this shows that distance is no longer a barrier to quality care or in this case, a visit from Santa." The event will be held on Tues., Dec. 12 in Erie and Portland, and Wed., Dec. 13 in Philadelphia and Houston:
