Earth Networks Contributes Real-Time Weather Intelligence to NORAD Tracks Santa Program

The NORAD Tracks Santa program will for the first time feature Earth Networks' weather intelligence to help visitors monitor live weather conditions while Santa Claus navigates his way around the world during his yuletide journey from the North Pole this Christmas.

Earth Networks operates the world's largest hyperlocal weather network with more than 35,000 locations worldwide, including 1,500 lightning sensors and more than 10,000 stations exclusive to Earth Networks that measure live data every two seconds. Visitors to www.noradsanta.org can now see real-time weather information at their location as well as current conditions at the North Pole. From now through Christmas Eve, visitors can also take a peek at Santa's preparations, eperience a countdown, and play interactive holiday games at the NORAD Tracks Santa website.

Since 1958, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) has tracked globe-trotting Santa Claus through its satellite systems, high-powered infrared radar and jet fighter pilots who escort Old Saint Nick on his present delivering spree. Starting on December 24th at 2:01 ET, NORAD's "Santa Cams" will stream videos on the website as Santa makes his way over various locations. And this year, for the first time through Earth Networks' Sferic API NORAD provides visitors to www.noradsanta.org with real-time weather information, including temperature and current conditions utilizing high accuracy forecast models, and other hyperlocal weather data.

"As a first time contributor to the NORAD Tracks Santa program, we are delighted to be able to bring the same high-resolution weather data we provide to our customers to help Santa-watchers on Christmas Eve," said Anuj Agrawal, Chief Marketing Officer, Earth Networks. "Through our hyperlocal weather network, families can see what type of weather Santa Claus and his team are experiencing at the North Pole and then follow along as he makes his yearly journey around the world delivering gifts to kids in time for Christmas morning."
