"It's a pleasure to have the opportunity to showcase our Headquarters as part of Premier Wynne's first visit to Shenzhen," said Mr. Hu. "As we near closer to celebrating our 10-year Anniversary in Canada in 2018, we are incredibly proud of the partnership we've built with the Province of Ontario, and appreciate the support of the Premier, and the Ontario Government over the past decade".

As part of the visit, Huawei and a number of Ontario-based partners formalized agreements and partnerships that reflect Huawei's long-term commitment to the Province of Ontario.   Of note, Huawei has become a member of the Ontario Centre's of Excellence CENGN consortium in Ottawa, and recently announced an extension of Huawei's 5G research partnership program with Carleton University.   Huawei also announced the signing of a partnership with Seneca College to train network technicians on Huawei enterprise equipment.

"Ontario and China have a long and productive history of working together, and we continue to fosterstrong ties through international business missions like this one," said Premier Wynne. "Huawei's collaboration with Ontario is a prime example of that partnership, and is a testament to the value of Ontario's highly skilled workforce and supportive climate for innovation in attracting leading global companies to our province to create jobs and opportunities."

Huawei's Canada Research Centre, with research facilities in Ottawa, Markham and Waterloo, now employs over 425 researchers and engineers, and has received funding support from the Ontario Strategic Jobs and Infrastructure Fund. Huawei will invest over $140m in research in Canada in 2017, primarily in Ontario. In addition to the research being conducted at Carleton University, Huawei has also signed research partnership agreements with both the University of Toronto and the University of Waterloo, and conducts research at other Ontario Universities.

"Ontario has one of the most diverse and advanced ICT ecosystems in the world," said Mr. Hu. "The ability to work with world-class universities, access to top talent, and partners that are investing in new technologies reflects our continued commitment to the Province".
