Peraton Awarded Two Task Orders to Support Opening of Electromagnetic Spectrum

Peraton has been awarded two task orders by the Defense Spectrum (News - Alert) Organization, a component of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), to support the Department of Defense program to share the electromagnetic spectrum with commercial users. The two task orders have a combined maximum value of approximately $12.5 million.

The first task order calls for Peraton to develop and maintain software that performs customized Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC (News - Alert)) analysis, and provides the results and documentation for analysis of the Electromagnetic Spectrum (EMS). It is valued at up to $5.55 million over a three-year period of performance, and is issued under the National Institutes of Health Information Technology Acquisition and Assessment Center (NITAAC) Chief Information Officer - Solutions and Partners 3 (CIO-SP3) contract.

Under the second task order, valued at up to $6.96 million over a four-year period of performance, Peraton will provide spectrum engineering and relocation services required to perform customized EMC analysis, coordinate EMC analyses and documentation with the military services' representatives in the development of objective justification decisions regarding early entry-saring of the spectrum, and share the results with AWS-3 licensees.

"The DSO's continuing mission to relieve stress on the broadband spectrum by making more spectrum available to commercial organizations is very important, and we are proud to support it," said Peraton CEO Stu Shea. "This frequency range was previously reserved exclusively for use by the federal government, and DSO is now helping to create economic opportunities and improve security as it executes its DISA1 Transition Plan."

The work supports DISA/DSO's coordination with the military services' representatives to develop decisions regarding early-entry sharing of the spectrum with objective justification, and generates the material that allows the results to be shared with AWS-3 licensees.
