ViiMed® taps industry veterans to expand its healthcare platform and its hospital footprint

WASHINGTON, Nov. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- ViiMed, a digital health company with a healthcare platform designed to improve patient experience as it drives cost out of the care continuum, welcomes two industry veterans to its executive team. Rick Holbrook was named CEO in February of this year and tapped Dan Mulligan as the new Chief Growth Officer early third quarter. With their combined 60+ years in the industry and the channel they have been building, ViiMed believes they can create meaningful market growth for its cutting-edge data driven healthcare platform.

Most recently, Rick was Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Skylight Healthcare where he developed several firsts in the areas of patient engagement and experience, population health and risk stratification. He was responsible for industry leading functionality including multi-modal communication messaging, video conferencing/telehealth, discharge planning, risk stratification, health education and operational services in the inpatient environment, as well as, the first ever real-time risk stratification and notification system to dramatically reduce readmissions at a major health system. Before Skylight, Rick spent over 18 years with Cerner and was part of the team that created one of the first EMRs.

In 2007, Rick and Dan teamed up to create the first ever web-based population health product deployed to manage patients in orthopedic surgery which evolved to include other disease states and service lines throughout the continuum of care for patients and providers. ViiMed's product rollout will follow a similar plan as it adds diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular offerings to the Platform in the near future.

"Given what is going on in 2018 and beyond with CJR and MACRA, combined with the platform we built with our partner Hopital for Specialty Surgery, Dan and I look forward to building a solid, hospital-based footprint in the orthopedic space," said Rick Holbrook, CEO of ViiMed. "Moreover, Dan and I have worked together successfully in the past to turn user defined needs into cost saving technology. I look forward to porting what we built at HSS to other specialties that need data analysis to drive out costs and improve outcomes."

Dan started in healthcare 30 years ago where he directed sales and business development at international surgical powerhouses Berchtold Corporation and Stryker Endoscopy. Post Stryker, he joined forces with Rick at Skylight Healthcare where they took the installed hospital base from six hospitals to fifty-eight in two short years by changing the conversation in the interactive patient space. For the past 12 years, Dan has been brought in to build out sales and marketing teams and strategies for companies ranging in size from early-stage startup to a turnaround for a mature publicly traded company. His custom-built offenses and playbooks are known for their ability to increase market share and drive exponential revenue growth.

"We are very excited to have both of these industry vets join our executive team," said Phil Newman, founder and Chief Product Officer at ViiMed. "They bring many different talents to the team, but its great they both have experience at early stage and large corporations—they combine the processes of big business with the roll up your sleeves and get dirty of a startup."

"Care Pathways that are currently in development with leading healthcare organizations will benefit from the footprint that is being created by Dan and his team," added Newman.

On joining ViiMed, Dan commented, "In addition to leading sales and marketing teams, I've spent many years evaluating potential acquisition targets for various surgical companies. Of the dozens of companies my teams completed due diligence on, ViiMed's technology is, hands down, the most unique I've seen in twenty years. More important, the Platform offers significant, game changing information to surgeons and hospital C teams."
