During the session, Intel and MemSQL will share how artificial intelligence and machine learning are increasingly a critical part of software workloads. To support these workloads, MemSQL will show how SQL databases effectively store and manage real-time data. With MemSQL, cusomers can perform advanced computations with live data and SQL, in the database, to easily build operational applications without requiring multiple disparate systems. Specifically, MemSQL will showcase one of its newest features, DOT_PRODUCT, which enables real-time image recognition.

Presenting with MemSQL and Intel at re:Invent is Julie Cordua, Thorn CEO, who will share details on how the nonprofit uses image recognition technology to identify and find missing and exploited children. Thorn works with companies to leverage machine learning and artificial intelligence to match images of children, so law enforcement can find these children faster.

Also at the event, MemSQL will show how Nyris, a provider of visual product and object search technology, allows anyone to take a photo of an item - shoes, bikes, lamps - and Nyris will search its database to quickly return matches of the item for sale. Using MemSQL technology, Nyris scans images and finds matches in under a second.

“Increasingly our everyday lives are becoming more visual,” said Nikita Shamgunov, CEO and Co-founder of MemSQL. “Harnessing and making sense of these visual images is one of the next big computing challenges. At MemSQL, we see it as a simple problem we are solving with our customers today.”
