REALice Canada marks milestone 60th ice installation in Canada this monthVANCOUVER, Nov. 14, 2017 /CNW/ - This month, REALice achieved a milestone of 60 sheets of ice made with unheated water instead of hot water in Canada. The 60th installation of this cutting edge water treatment technology used for ice making was at the busy Iceland Arena in Mississauga.
That's 60 sheets of ice, now made with unheated water, creating a dramatic cost savings and reducing carbon emissions, thanks to REALice. Basically that means better air, fewer cars o the road and cost savings too. REALice Canada is revolutionizing ice making and carving out a path for arenas in Canada to become more energy efficient. It takes a huge amount of extremely hot water to make the ice in hockey rinks. Canada's ice arenas have one of the biggest carbon footprints in municipalities. That has a significant impact on our climate. There are several ways arenas can lower their impact on the environment. Among them: Tapping into reclaimed heat, switching to LED lighting, installing solar panels on the roof, or using unheated water to resurface ice. "We have been working hard in 2017 to challenge the mindset that ice arenas can only make ice with extremely hot water.
