Nyansa Advances User Performance Management Market

PALO ALTO, Calif., Nov. 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Nyansa, Inc. ("knee-ans-sah"), a fast-growing innovator of a new generation of network analytics software, today unveiled a suite of innovative user performance management (UPM) technology that gives network operations unprecedented visibility into and control over network performance issues impacting the end-user experience within ever-changing enterprise access infrastructures.

Nyansa's new Voyance client remediation engine

UPM is a new approach to networking that provides much deeper levels of visibility into and control over virtually every aspect of users' network experience. Through a unique combination of machine learning, big data network analytics and cloud technologies, UPM can transform traditional network operations into a proactive and revenue-generating arm of any business.

The new suite of UPM technology, now integrated into Nyansa's popular Voyance UPM platform, includes a number or key UPM components and capabilities including:

  • A first-of-its-kind remediation engine so IT immediately sees a "recommended for you" set of targeted actions and their predicted benefit of how much they will improve user experience,
  • An open application programming interface (API) to extend Voyance as a platform to be further integrated into Enterprise IT workflows, as well as non-network related BI use cases,
  • A flexible tagging framework to analyze and track the network experience of VIP clients, mission critical IoT devices like robots, infusion pumps, etc.,
  • SYSLOG integration with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), Aruba ClearPass, Free RADIUS, and other DHCP/DNS network services for richer root cause insight into user connection issues

"User performance management isn't just about one aspect of the network, it's about all aspects of the user experience that affect real productivity," said Abe Ankumah, CEO of Nyansa, Inc. "The innovations we've delivered now help IT get in front of business-critical network incidents impacting end-user performance."

Today's network engineering and operations teams spend almost all of their time fixing problems, rather than delivering value to the business in the form of new or optimized network services that increase end user productivity. According to Enterprise Management Associates, leading industry analyst firm, the average network staff spend over 71% of the work week fixing problems. Half of that time is devoted to proactive problem prevention, but the other half is spent on reactive troubleshooting.

PROACTIVE USER EXPERIENCE REMEDIATION AT LAST

Nyansa has introduced a new remediation engine that uniquely offers proactive client remediation actions as well as a prediction of their effect to enable proactive workflows for user network problem prevention.

The remediation engine automatically learns where and when network incidents are occurring and their impact on user experience and then surfaces specific actions, categorized by different root-causes, that network staff can take to alleviate pressing user performance problems while predictively quantifying the benefits of any change it recommends in terms of lost client hours that will be recovered. Once a recommended action is taken, the engine tracks the progress of the change over time to validate that the action worked.

For instance, the remediation engine might suggest turning off 2.4 GHz radios or changing channel assignments on certain wireless access points in a particular area will reduce co-channel interference and avoid 1,000 client hours lost to poor wireless network performance. Or it might suggest that mitigating DNS latency issues on a specific set of VLANs can result in recovering 2,000 client hours of poor Internet experience.

In addition, Wi-Fi and application-related recommendations are laid out on a physical map of the Enterprise campus and Network services related recommendations are laid out on logical maps of network topology. This lets IT staff quickly visualize problematic areas in the network where the most pressing user experience problems are hiding.

RICH USER AND DEVICE DATA IMPROVE BUSINESS DECISIONS

New open APIs further extend Voyance to as a unique user performance management platform, allowing further integration of enterprise IT workflows and internal reporting systems. A new RESTful API allows Voyance customers to easily export a variety of valuable user and device metrics for even more sophisticated correlation with other business data systems. This gives organizations the ability to examine network and user behavior trends relative to their specific business needs.

User and device data trends can be used to analyze virtually anything, answering important business questions such as what devices or operating systems are being used and by whom? How does network usage correlate to academic performance? Who is accessing what applications in which stores and when?

API integrations with Voyance also allow customizations in terms of how an IT organization incorporates Voyance data with the rest of their IT workflows and reporting.

ENSURING USERS STAY CONNECTED

Enterprises now have the ability get to the heart of user connectivity issues without having to bounce between different systems to pinpoint the problem.

Through the ingestion of new SYSLOG data sources like Cisco's ISE, Aruba's ClearPass and Free RADIUS user identity systems, Voyance provides comprehensive root cause insights into user authentication issues including detailed failure reason codes.  SYSLOG data from sources like Infoblox's DHCP/DNS systems provides similar detail and insight into other layers of the user connectivity process. Unlike discrete vendor tools that simply analyze one aspect of the client experience, Voyance now analyzes and correlates user authentication, network service, device and application behavior in real-time and historically for every client on the network.

TAG, YOU'RE IT

For many enterprises, ensuring the highest level of performance for certain users or devices is critical.  With Voyance, customers can tag mission critical devices like heart and infusion pumps, manufacturing devices, and other IoT devices connected over the IP network as well as important users, such as VIPs, so the client experience can be automatically measured and tracked for every network transaction that takes place.

PRICING AND AVAILABILITY

Nyansa's new remediation engine, open API, Cisco ISE and Aruba ClearPass authentication support along with VIP tagging are now integrated, at no additional cost, into its Voyance public and private-cloud network analytics platforms.
