The Crypsis Group Opens West Coast Office

In response to the increasing demand for its cyber security services, The Crypsis Group announced today the opening of a new office in Los Angeles and the expansion of its operations in Chicago.

Founded two years ago, Crypsis specializes in data breach response, digital forensics, and risk management consulting services to a growing list of clients ranging in size from small enterprises to Fortune 50 corporations, as well as a number of federal government agencies.

The opening of the Los Angeles office brings to four the number of locations where Crypsis has operations to serve its rapidly increasing roster of clients. In addition to the Chicago office and its Washington, DC area headquarters, the company has an office in New York City.

The company also announced the hiring of Samuel Rubin, who was a Managing Director at the cyber risk management firm Stroz Friedberg, to lead The Crypsis Group's West Coast operations and client services out of the new L.A. office. Mr. Rubin had been with Stroz Friedberg for 14 years and led technical teams in a variety of cyber-related engagements, including digital forensic investigations, IT security risk assessments, and data breach incident response.

A frequent expert witness in digital forensics, Mr. Rubin has provided technical advice and expert opinions in numerous high-stakes cases, including Epic Systems Corporation's landmark victory in a trade secret misappropriation case, a federal criminal securities fraud case against a former telecom CEO, and civil litigation stemming from Scott Rothstein's $1.2 billion dollar Ponzi scheme. He is a frequent presenter and lecturer on computer forensics, insider threats to proprietary data, and other cyber-related topics.

"Our Midwest and Western expansion is another indication of not only our growing reputation as the cyber security consultancy of choice, but also a validation of our unique approach to working with clients," said Bret Padres, CEO of The Crypsis Group. "That approach includes starting with the smartest and most talented cyber security experts in the industry, and working hard to gain the trust of our clients as we guide them through their security challenges."

Justin Jordan, Chairman of the company's Board, said, "Crypsis is growing and the hiring of Sam Rubin, with his deep experience and know-how in digital forensics and information security best practices, is another step toward building a national cyber security practice that is second to none."

"Crypsis has gained a reputation for stellar client service and unparalleled expertise in working with a diverse range of companies and organizations to address their security challenges," said Rubin. "I'm excited to be part of the team and to have the opportunity to build on the company's success in the dynamic West Coast market."
