Technology Business Management Discipline Named As Top Priority By US CIO CouncilLAS VEGAS, Nov. 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The TBM Council, a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing and promoting best practices for managing IT like a business, is proud to have its core methodology named as a top priority for US federal IT leaders by the CIO Council. This endorsement comes on the heels of a record year of growth. In the last year, the TBM Council increased its membership base significantly, growing more than 45% to include 4,500 innovative individuals in IT and Finance. The Council also made significant advancements against its standardization and education mandates while welcoming five new board members and several new strategic alliances. This incredible momentum was capped off by the kickoff of the fifth-annual TBM Conference today in Las Vegas. "This has been a monumental year for the TBM Council," said Chris Pick, President of the TBM Council. "Between the commitments from the public sector to our growing board and the exponential adoption of our executive certification, this year's accomplishments have really cemented the power of the movement we started with TBM to make it an industry-wide discipline." US Federal Government Adoption Additionally, following the IT Cost Commission recommendations from July 2016, the US Office of Management and Budget is set to issue guidance (Circular A-11) for the Capital Planning and Investment Control (CPIC) process with requirements for reporting budget submissions by TBM Taxonomy cost pools and towers. These submissions will span Mission Delivery, Administrative & Support Services, Infrastructure and Security Management, which is driving significant interest in TBM across the board.

Additionally, TBM Council chair Mike Brown has agreed to extend his leadership role and has signed on for another term. Standardization and Certification The TBM Executive Foundation course is specifically tailored for senior IT, finance, or other business professionals who need to demonstrate a basic understanding of the TBM framework. Due to high demand, the TBM Council is also releasing a Masters Certification Program for professionals who have received the TBM executive certification and who are looking to further develop their TBM knowledge. Since the release of TBM Taxonomy 2.0 in November 2016, the industry's first standard for defining the cost, quality and value for delivering IT products, the Standards Committee has broadened its work by establishing four subcommittees, which are continuing to evolve the TBM Taxonomy.
