NetQuest Enhances Threat Hunting for Cyber Intelligence Missions with Alpine Patrol's Optical Network Analytics

NetQuest Corporation, a leading manufacturer of cyber surveillance solutions, today announced the addition of optical network analytics in its Alpine Patrol Cyber Intelligence Access Orchestration Platform aimed at improving threat and attack detection. The platform enhances threat discovery by providing Cyber Security Operations Centers (CSOC) with greater ability to direct multiple optical network monitoring tools to signal alerts based on network traffic fluctuations.

NetQuest's (News - Alert) advanced cyber surveillance solution is a cloud-based software approach that gathers real-time and historical data from multiple optical network nodes to provide summary data across the entire transport network. Through a user-configured interface, cyber intelligence officials can use Alpine Patrol to raise alarms and automate responses to unexpected changes in traffic streams, indicating possible threats or attacks.

Despite massive efforts to protect communications networks around the world, the rate of crippling cyber-attacks, like the recent Equifax data breach, continues to increase year after year. Cyber intelligence officials tasked with hunting down malicious activity through network and data set searches need to discover and react more rapidly to threats that evade traditional security solutions. Alpine Patrol enables an enhanced threat identification methodology by collecting and analyzing metadata from the optical transport network and correlating this with real-time IP flow data.

"Alpine Patrol is designed to provide continuous visibility through coplex multi-layer optical transport networks," said NetQuest Corporation CEO and President Jesse Price. "New threats are emerging every day, and we offer cyber intelligence missions advanced capabilities for analyzing network data and automating responses in order to minimize the impact of ensuing attacks."

Alpine Patrol's optical network analytics can be combined with standard IP traffic analysis tools, to identify:

  • Network traffic geospatial data (geographical origin);
  • Unauthorized optical transport network access;
  • Covert communications paths; and
  • Early warning indicators of DDoS attacks.
