Blackboard Strengthens its Position in South America and the CaribbeanBOGOTÀ, Colombia, Oct. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Blackboard Inc., a leading education technology company for teaching, learning and student engagement, is strengthening its position across the Spanish-speaking countries in South America and the Caribbean. Since January, the company has signed more than 20 new partnerships and extended existing agreements with more than 35 clients, and it continues to enable millions of learners throughout the region to achieve educational success.
Blackboard has been improving the teaching and learning experience of students in Latin America for a number of years and further expanded its presence in the region in 2015 with the acquisition of Nivel Siete, a leading provider of Moodle solutions, establishing its regional headquarter in Bogotà, Colombia. Today's announcement builds on the positive results achieved in Brazil and further testifies to the strong momentum the company is showing around the world. Among those organizations that decided to leverage Blackboard's solutions to address their complex challenges are: Auditoria Superior del Estado de Coahuila – the Supreme Audit Authority of Coahuila State in Mexico. It adopted Blackboard Learn in 2015 as the platform to provide training on new national accounting practices, delivering three separate courses to over 100,000 public service participants. Based on the outstanding results achieved, the Authority decided to renew its partnership to meet the training needs of more than 150,000 learners altogether. Universitaria Autonoma De Occidente – one of the top high-quality universities in Colombia with more than 10,000 students. It decided to move from a self-hosted Moodle implementation to Moodlerooms to leverage all the benefits related to a cloud delivery model, including zero downtime updates and continuous quality enhancements delivery. The institution will also implement the Personalized Learning Designer, a tool of Moodlerooms that automates course elements so that students have different experiences based on their interaction with the course. Universidad Tecnológica Indoamérica – one of the fastest growing universities in Ecuador. It chose Moodlerooms and Blackboard Collaborate to deploy its blended and virtual learning programs to more than 4,000 students. Its aim is to leverage the best education technology solutions available to improve the overall quality of its courses and increase its reach among learners across the country. Universidad de Concepción de Chile (UDEC) – the third oldest university in Chile with more than 25,000 students. It selected Blackboard Collaborate to simplify and enhance its distance teaching and learning programs. Thanks to high-fidelity audio and video capabilities, ease of use and a sleek design, Blackboard Collaborate will be key to keep students engaged even outside of the classroom. The university will also use Blackboard Collaborate to deliver high-level virtual meetings and webinars to a broader audience, with the aim of being recognized as a hub for the local higher education community.
