Relativity Unveils Next Evolution of Their e-Discovery Platform at 8th Annual Relativity Fest

CHICAGO, Oct. 23, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Relativity today announced key enhancements to their e-discovery platform at their annual user conference, building on the nearly 500 new features already delivered this year. The company also shared that they earned ISO 27001 certification for the security of RelativityOne.

Relativity

The announcement came from Relativity CEO and founder Andrew Sieja, when he took the stage for Relativity Fest's opening keynote and shared Relativity's vision for e-discovery with nearly 2,000 attendees—from paralegals and attorneys to developers and academics. The annual technology conference has grown year over year. This year, more than 150 speakers from throughout the industry are joining the Relativity team to offer nearly 200 unique sessions, hands-on labs, and workshops designed to educate and connect the e-discovery community.

"This year, Relativity Fest has extra meaning to us given our recent rebrand to Relativity—a single name to connect our company, our platform, and our community," said Sieja. "We're excited to build on Relativity with new ways to simplify and accelerate how the world conducts e-discovery."

Notable enhancements mentioned during the keynote include sub-second doc-to-doc review speeds; document intelligence features to identify hidden and embedded content often found in Office files and other common documents, and expose it during review; and upcoming integrated functionality for working with transcripts. Other key updates included analytics and improvements to the cloud platform, RelativityOne.

Analytics and Active Learning

The Relativity Analytics toolkit has grown significantly over the years, with recent additions like cluster and email thread visualization, solving more and more problems like dealing with complex emails, reviewing foreign language documents, and coping with massive data volumes in short time frames. Nearly 3.1 billion documents have been run through Relativity Analytics to-date.

In addition to its existing sample-based learning workflow, Relativity Assisted Review will include a new active learning workflow early next year. As soon as users start reviewing documents, the system will learn from each coding decision to serve up the most relevant dcuments next. It means legal teams can:

  • Hone in on their target. Relativity now provides near real-time intelligence as the system fluidly learns throughout the course of review, serving up only the most relevant documents to minimize the amount that need to be reviewed to hone in on a target. Any reviewer jumping into an active learning project will benefit from the system's most current understanding.
  • Discover the truth, faster. Relativity Assisted Review is part of Relativity's comprehensive analytics toolkit. The combination of visualizations, structured and conceptual analytics, and technology-assisted review workflows provides the flexibility to pick the tools that fit each case.
  • Do it all in one platform. Ingest data, begin review, and start identifying key documents via active learning within minutes. Remove the risk inherent to transferring data between systems, and keep downtime to a minimum.

"Relativity's new active learning functionality can help streamline the cost and time it takes to discover responsive documents during discovery," said Bennett Borden, chief data scientist at Drinker Biddle. "It's full integration in Relativity means getting to the facts even faster, and that's an immense strategic advantage."

RelativityOne

Released last year in the U.S., Relativity's cloud product, RelativityOne, is now available in the UK. There are also now nine RelativityOne Certified Partners who have the expertise and resources to provide exceptional e-discovery solutions on RelativityOne.

Security

Additionally, security was a key topic discussed at Relativity Fest. A new two-factor authentication app will be available soon, providing an added layer of security to ensure case data remains secure.

Also, Relativity has validated their approach to information security with ISO 27001 certification for the security of RelativityOne, the global standard for managing information security risk. This approach encompasses the breadth of Relativity's security focus, which comes through in multiple areas:

  • Product features that elevate security are always prioritized, like Relativity's granular security model or single sign-on.
  • The engineering process includes strict code reviews, penetration testing, and extensive reviews of third-party components.
  • RelativityOne is built on Microsoft Azure, benefiting from Azure's lofty compliance and privacy standards.
  • Security is top of mind in all of Relativity's operations, from background checks for employees to incident management programs to in-depth business continuity plans and procedures.
