Project Management Institute to Host Annual Global Conference 2017

Later this week, Project Management Institute (PMI) will bring together thousands of project and program managers, chapter leaders and business professionals from around the world to share knowledge, strengthen community and lead the evolution of the project management profession at its annual Global Conference held from October 28 - 30 at Chicago's McCormick Place. Representatives from key Fortune 500 companies like American Express, AT&T, Boeing, Coca-Cola, Cisco Systems, CVS, Deloitte (News - Alert), eBay, General Electric, IBM, Intel, Johnson & Johnson, JP Morgan, Microsoft, Nike, Samsung and Target are expected to attend.

Among the conference's many highlights, this year's event - which was previously known as the PMI Global Congress - will feature dynamic presentations from industry leaders who have inspired others and built success using project expertise, including an opening keynote address from Sir Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the World Wide Web and one of Time Magazine's '100 Most Important People of the 20th Century.' Nicholas Epley, a John T. Keller professor of behavioral science at the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business whose research has appeared in more than two dozen empirical journals including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, CNN, Wired and National Public Radio, will deliver a keynote speech on the event's second day. Mercedes Ramirez-Johnson, survivor of a plane crash that killed 160 people, including her parents - and also an inspirational speaker who addresses high-level organizations around the country - will be giving the event's closing keynote speech.

"Our global conference will offer project management and business professionals a variety of unique opportunities for learning, networking and essential career alignment," said PMI President and Chief Executive Officer Mark A. Langley. "In addition to the keynote presentations, the conference will include more than 100 curated educational sessions that will cover all project management practices and innovative approaches that are valuable to business professionals who are eager to learn and advance their career within their respective industries."

Of the individuals who attended past events, 71 percent held a Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification, recognized as the gold standard in project management; while 15 percent listed themselves as project managers.
