ESO Solutions Releases New Version of Electronic Health Record (EHR) ePCR Software for Fire Departments and EMS With Positive ID Feature Approved by Ohio Board of Pharmacy

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- ESO Solutions, Inc., the leading data and software company serving emergency medical services, fire departments and hospitals, announced the latest version of ESO Electronic Health Record, one of the most widely used electronic patient care report (ePCR) solutions used to document patient care by emergency medical services (EMS) and fire departments. Among other new features, EHR Version 5.14.400 improves accountability for caregivers who administer or dispose of medications via Positive ID, a security feature approved by the Ohio Board of Pharmacy.

"The national opioid crisis primarily involves prescription drug abusers who don't work in healthcare, but studies have shown that medication abuse among doctors, nurses and other medical professionals is a serious concern," said Kenny Schnell, Vice President and General Manager of the company's Electronic Health Record business unit. "The new version of EHR contains Positive Identification, a feature that creates accountability via a security credential process for caregivers who administer medications," Schnell continued. "Positive ID will help protect the people who protect others," he added.

In addition to Positive ID, EHR also now features upgraded Specialty Patient Forms—screens that facilitate rapid treatment, assessment/screening and documentation of care for acute cornary syndrome, sepsis and other emergent conditions. One such upgrade, Rapid Arterial oCclusion Evaluation (RACE), is a built-in assessment tool to help prehospital caregivers better identify strokes far earlier than if patients had to wait until they arrived in the emergency department, enabling faster treatment and better patient outcomes.

EHR's Positive ID feature is approved by the Ohio Board of Pharmacy under Rule 4729-5-01(N) of the Ohio Administrative Code.

Demos of ESO's EHR will be available from ESO Solutions at Booth #1407 at EMS World Expo at the Las Vegas Convention Center, October 18-20.
