xR in EDU: Forum Focused on Extended Reality in Education Will Take Place October 26

BOSTON, Oct. 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- EdTech Times and SRI International will host xR in EDU, a 1-day forum focused on extended reality in education. Located at SRI Headquarters in Menlo Park, CA, on October 26, 2017, this event will gather leaders in the virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and education ecosystems. The goal is to understand barriers to adoption, discuss unique research findings, and facilitate meaningful connections that will accelerate the integration of extended reality (xR) technologies in K–12, higher education, and professional learning environments.

xR in EDU is an experiential forum on extended reality in education. Join EdTech Times and SRI International on October 26, 2017 to accelerate the adoption of VR, AR, and MR in schools and professional learning environments.

xR in EDU features dynamic speakers and session leaders from: Unity Technologies (Jessica Lindl), HTC Vive (Chris Chin), Pearson (Joanna Webb), Facebook (Hassan Karaouni), San Francisco Unified School District (Melissa Dodd), STRIVR (Derek Belch), DAQRI (Drew Minock), Nearpod (Maria Barrera), SRI International (Britte Cheng), Lifeliqe (Ondrej Homola), ThingLink (Susan Oxnevad), Entangled Ventures (Gunnar Counselman), Arkansas Department of Education (Anthony Owen), Unofficial Cardboard (David Nachbar), and Avegant (Ed Tang).

SV Acceleration (Deborah Quazzo), EdTech Times/LearnLaunch (Hakan Satiroglu), Levy Consulting Group (Peter Levy), and Pearson (Mark Christian) serve as advisors to the event.

EdTech Times and SRI International, together with event partners—VR/AR Association, Global Impact EdTech Alliance, the Education Technology Industry Network of SIIA (ETIN), ASU+GSV Summit, and LearnLaunch—reach more than 2 million professionals across K-12, higher ed, workforce development, and immersive technologies.

"We're excited to work with SRI to explore the potential for xR in education and professional training across all industries. Given the level of capital investment going into immersive tech at companies like Apple, Google, Facebook, and Amazon, we feel this conversation is incredibly timely," said Hakan Satiroglu, Founder of EdTech Times and Co-founder of LearnLaunch.

Technavio expects the global VR in education market to reach $1.7 billion in 2021, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of more than 55%, with North America expected to dominate the market.
