Dino-Software announces T-REX v7.3

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Dino-Software Corporation, an industry leader in mainframe utilities, announced version 7.3 availability of T-REX on z/OS 2.3 and earlier for analysis, diagnosis, reorganization, reporting, backup and repair of clusters and ICF (Integrated Catalog Facility) components in a z/OS environment.  T-REX is a dynamic MVS batch facility which multi-tasks many of its commands and provides full object support, providing additional flexibility through keyword options and new functionality to complement and enhance IBM's Access Method Services (IDCAMS) utility.

"With the release of T-REX 7.3, we're proud to continue our tradition of day 1 support for the new z/OS version 2.3.  We're also very excited about offering some new batch enhancements which will further assist organizations with the overall management and maintenance of their critical assets and ensure continuous operational capabilities of their ICF catalog environment," states Gary Bleemer, CTO of Dno-Software Corporation.

T-REX is the first ICF catalog maintenance, repair, and recovery product to:

  • Fully support the re-cataloging of multi-volume datasets
  • REORG catalogs while open and being processed by online and/or batch systems
  • Detect hardware changes and dynamically adjust performance parameters to ensure optimal processing
  • Provide two powerful facilities, DRIMPORT and SCRUB, for Disaster Recovery processes
  • Identify and repair discrepancies between cataloged tape datasets and the TMC.

T-REX 7.3 enhancements include:

  • Dynamic detection of encryption eligible VSAM clusters and non-VSAM data sets
  • Full compatibility with z/OS 2.3
  • REORG is now more dynamic with enhanced usability
  • New message summary report for all T-REX commands
  • Several batch processing command enhancements

With T-REX, unexpected downtime can be minimized, and if used regularly to maintain the health of catalogs, production outages can be averted. T-REX plays a vital role in an organization's overall business continuity and resiliency plans.
